Between 2007 and 2009 I spent a great deal of time creating interactive experiences, online advertising, and loyalty programs for GM vehicles and OnStar. I still love this work, but find it mildly amusing that, not that long ago, the idea of being able to plug your iPod into your car was a big deal.
While I worked on a number of projects at this time, the most significant was a complete relaunch of GM.com. The company had been making highly rated vehicles for a number of years, but the legacy of the 80s and 90s clunkers was still a big part of its reputation. This relaunch was one step towards trying to revitalize GMs tarnished image.
